For instance, if the author wants to assert that the general subject of the essay is that dinosaurs roamed the earth before humans, they need to first show why dinosaurs roamed the earth. They can accomplish this by writing an overview of just how different species inhabited the earth before humans and then introducing their argument in this manner that it is logical and is based in scientific fact. As the student reworks their essay, they need to remember that the purpose is to convince the reader that the author's point of view is the correct one, rather than simply stating facts.
